Hi, guys. Nice forums you have here. I discovered them through the Monster Hunter Podcast with Krystian, Nick, and Shepard. I hope that's okay.... lol

Anyway, I've been roaming around GameFaqs and these forums (although not much yet), looking for some people's armor set ideas as a way to give me ideas on creating my own. After reading the 'Armor Combination FAQ' on GameFaqs and 'Nosuke Armor Combo Library', I've come to realize that a lot of the sets involve armor pieces that are forged using high rank Jhen Morhan materal. The problem with this is, it's not easy to obtain these materials on the sole fact that high rank Jhen is an event-only quest. And that's fine. But I've been messing around with armor sets that don't include the Jhen stuff just to see if I could make some decent sets without them. I'd like to share one that I made myself (granted, not quite difficult to do so).

At one point in time, I was kind of obsessed with trying to make the Dober set. I noticed it required a Lagia Sapphire and a few Lagaicrus Plates. I gave up, mostly because there are a bunch of other things I would love to spend my Lagia Sapphires on, so if I happen to come across a Lagia Sapphire down the line that I don't really need, I will reconsider finishing the set. But probably not. Instead, I mixed up some of the easier Dober pieces to make with Baggi and Alloy, and made a pretty reasonable main GS set for myself. I call it, The Lazy Man's GS! Haha, just joking.

Here's what I'm using:

Anguish (P) (Sharpener Jewel, +2 Sharpener)
Dober Helm (Dynamo Jewel, +4 FastCharge)
Dober Mail (Charger Jewel, +1 FastCharge)
Baggi Vambraces+
Dober Coil (Sprinter Jewel, Stamina +1)
Alloy Greaves+
King Talisman (Sharpener +6, with Grinder jewel, makes +8 Sharpener)

Coupled with the skills on the actual equipment, this set gives me: Critical Draw, Focus, Marathon Runner, Dragon Res +10, and Speed Sharpening.
Defense-wise: -9 Fire, -5 Water, +6 Ice, 0 Thunder, 25 Dragon. It's not fully upgraded, but at the moment it has 341 Defense. I didn't feel like using Hvy Armor Spheres on the Vambraces or Greaves.

Also, if anyone wants a really decent Hammer set, I suggest using the Barioth+ set. Fairy easy to make, and will probably serve you hammer-users well. With the right talisman, you can also gem in something particularly useful for hammers. Or just go with Bomb Boost like I did. Mwahahaha!

Do any of you have some "lazy man" sets that are fairly useful that you would like to share? Try to share ones you came up with yourself. Please and thank you!

So Barioth+ is good for hammer? Wouldn't have expected that.

Oh I see. Yeah I guess I'll just use that thread. Sorry to make a brand new one. I just thought the other one was all high rank Jhen Mohran stuff.

Also, I figure Barioth+ is good for hammer users because of the Evasion+2 and Evade Distance Up skills. Since you can't block, evading would be most important to you. And since the evading skills are initial, you still have slots and talisman to work with. Seems like a good choice, imo. But I'm sure all the experts have better ideas for hammer sets. lol
