DESCRIPTION
XX----------------------------------------------------------------------XX
For those of you who use Monster Hunter Freedom 2 (forums), you may notice
a random quest appearing every few posts in your 1* reply bracket. Such a
low level reply rarely interests the seasoned hunter, but should you
venture out in curiosity you may find yourself quickly overwhelmed by this
rare and unusual poster.

This guide is intended to aid the unwary in the completion of the quest
titled "Hunt The Croda."

XX----------------------------------------------------------------------XX
1.1 Revealing the Quest
XX----------------------------------------------------------------------XX
Croda is typically a social creature, and it likes to hang around other
posts, however you will only ever find one at a time, as occasions where
you see two Croda (also known as double posting) are rare and quickly
moderated out of existence.

With this in mind there are a few things you should remember when
attempting to find the Croda quest:
1. He is easily interested by the word "new" on the front page.
2. Croda is most in his element when Randomly Musing and can often be
found in such places.
3. With a good supply of milk and Zelda911 you can easily draw out Croda.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.2 Other Tactics
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
If the above methods don't unlock the quest, it is quite possible (but
unadvised) to just run around making yourself look like an idiot in random
quests. This is a far faster method then the above three, however it
caries with it dire consequences, since you will ensure that Croda is in
rage mode the entire fight. Used as a last resort.

X--------------------------------------------------------------------X

XX----------------------------------------------------------------------XX
2.1 Croda - Recognising
XX----------------------------------------------------------------------XX
The Croda you stumble across will typically be rectangular in shape.
Depending on the season, he may be either a dark or light hued colour
indicating his disinterest in you. As this is something you have little
control over, it is best ignored.

To his right you will clearly see a number of interesting physical
features, including (but not limited to) his name, his inaccurate title, a
false hunter rank, and his sole hand. These things are hard to miss, and
are clear indications that you have found your desired prey.

The most important things you must pay attention to are his curvy arrow
and quotation symbol buttons, as they will be your prime targets (more on
these things latter).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.2 Attacks
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Croda, being of the moderator breed of monsters, has a variety of attacks
at his disposal. Below you will find descriptions of each one:

POST COMMENT
Rarely used unless there is no other alternative, Croda understands the
correct use of the Reply attack, and will seldom post replies without
directing them at someone. It deals no damage as it's not really targeting
you yet.

POST REPLY
A low damage attack, also the one used most frequently. Despite it's low
damage, you may want to avoid it, as it can stun you for a moment as you
work out how to properly counter attack it.

The best method of getting out of this attack is to dodge your message to
the previous poster with statements such as "I was talking to <insert user
name here>". This approach is harder to do as you further entrench
yourself in the quest. At the same time, you must be aware who you are
passing this comment to (see section "Avoiding the wrath of God" in the
guide "The Crimson Crimson - A quest best left undone"). A better long
term approach is to have facts ready to back up your previously used
attack, as these can become more effecting over time.

POST QUOTED REPLY
A high damage attack that he seams to use rarely (may depend on the
circumstances, further spamming is required to test). This attack is not
only directed at you, but pokes holes in your previous attack to lower
your defence for future attacks.

Avoid creating situations where it is necessary to be quoted. If you do
then you will need to do some quick replying to ensure that your own
attacks are coming off as understood, even if you have made a mistake.

DELETE POST
A thankfully rare occurrence. This attack <Words Cannot Be Found> previous
attacks, and creates an alternate reality where they never actually
existed in the first place. This is impossible to avoid once initiated but
<Cannot Contact Host> effects can be lessened by your own quote attack, or
even Croda's if he hasn’t been paying attention, since you will retain
partial access to the original posts.

EDIT POST
You're fuc...I like purple dinosaurs, but that’s ok, 'cause when I spend
my evenings braiding my boyfriends hair he tells me I'm cute. WOOOOOOOOOO
I'M A HOUSEFLY. WATCH ME BUZZ AROUND!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.3 Movement Patterns
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Croda is hard to pin down, as even though he rarely is seen double posting
you can easily find him in two or more places at once, which presents a
problem as you can never tell which place he is paying the most attention
to. The typical stomping grounds of Croda are the Random Musing fields
however it is easier to get his attention in various group forums where he
doesn’t expect you to be. An alternative to this second circumstance is
when he takes you by surprise in forums he isn’t expected to be in. This
is an important factor in Croda hunting, as you must always remember that
you can't just change area to ready yourself.

To properly get an idea of his movement patterns, spend a while observing
his History page to show you what he's been doing recently. Again, this is
something he can also make full use of, so ensure you watch what you
attack elsewhere.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.4 Openings
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
As he has a habit of falling asleep at least once every 24 hours, it is
not unnatural to catch Crodas off guard completely, however unlike with
other monsters this does a painfully small amount of damage, as anything
he doesn’t notice doesn’t seam to hurt him. Still as any damage is good
damage, take every chance you can get. Observe who is online around you
and strike when the iron is hot!

Another time you have a chance for free replies is when Croda is most
active around milk and Zelda911. Be on the lookout for the presence of
Black Zelda in the Random Musings fields as his presence usually ensures
that Croda will be preoccupied and confused elsewhere, giving you time to
charge a really well worded reply or even quote attack. This is not to be
relied on though.

Your best opening will come just after Croda makes a reply, as he will
enter his "Wait for more stupid things to be posted" mode. This is
unavoidable for him, due to not liking to be seen besides himself. You
have as much time as you want here, except when your area is filled with
other posters, as they may interrupt your attacks, reducing their damage
and relevance, unless properly quoted or replied.

X--------------------------------------------------------------------X

XX----------------------------------------------------------------------XX
3.1 Items
XX----------------------------------------------------------------------XX
A variety of items are at your disposal when fighting Croda. Try to bring
along at least:

Relevant Facts x5
Supporting References x as many as you can get
Quotes (if you finish quickly) x3
(if you finish slow) x7
Your Opinion You can only have one, so make sure you
bring the right one. Don’t mess up and try
to change it mid-quest.
Other's Opinions Supplied at the start of the quest. Make
use of all you can.
PM's Infinite, but keep in mind that they don’t
really count.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.2 Items if you still can't do it
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Get yourself a copy of goatse to attach, but rename it to something
relevant to the current area you are in. It does massive collateral damage
to the surrounding creatures but ensures a few moments of absolute horror.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you are not aware of how to use goatse !FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STAY THE!
!HELL AWAY FROM GOOGLE IMAGES!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.3 Combining items
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Croda will not give you a large enough opening to combine opinions, facts,
quotes or any other items you bring with you, so make sure you combine
them before you start the quest, otherwise you'll be embarrassed when you
run out.

X--------------------------------------------------------------------X

XX----------------------------------------------------------------------XX
4.1 Beginning the quest
XX----------------------------------------------------------------------XX
Commonly referred to as "the point of no return," this is where we start
getting into everything. Remember, once you start this fight, you can't
really abandon without loosing a lot of credibility.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
4.2 The Area and Your Surroundings
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you are in one of the many Random Musings fields, you need not worry
too much about your tactics, as they are all fairly typical here. If you
star moving into the Monster Hunter provinces you must remember to be more
circumspect with your attacks, ensuring that you don’t go too far off
topic without others joining in. The best location is either in the Random
Musings fields, as the calm wind blowing over the meadows is quite
relaxing or one of the private Group Forum strongholds, as he has less
authority there (however he shows up far less too, so be warned you may
have to spend a great deal of your quest waiting for him).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
4.3 Finding your Croda
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Simply observe his history to get a good idea of what areas he is
travelling through and wait till you see him in an area of your choosing.
Once you see him there he will typically leave momentarily, allowing you
to get in and set up your strategy, and analyse the surrounding creatures
for possible assistance or caution. If you see the elusive Crimson Crimson
in the area, pick a new one, as a fight here will not go well.

X--------------------------------------------------------------------X

XX----------------------------------------------------------------------XX
5.1 The Attack
XX----------------------------------------------------------------------XX
Your first attack will be based off whatever Croda has left behind for you
so take it and use it however you can. If you are going to make mistakes
now is the time, as latter on it's far harder to go back and start again.
However, if you do make mistakes here, make sure you address them in a
future post (preferably before Croda picks up on them) so you can save
yourself some pain.

Questioning the integrity of his information is always a good start as it
can put Croda off guard for a moment as he looks for proof of what he said
giving you time to edit your post to ensure there is nothing in there that
he can make use of, or even changing it slightly so as to confuse him more
when he comes back to see that you are supporting half his theory now.

This will most likely draw the standard Reply attack being thrown at you
but if you have timed it wrong he may even not notice you. If this is the
case, just wait for your damage to be noticed. If Croda does Reply at you
dodge it the best you can and take the time to observe it to see which
attack he may use next.

Continue with small attacks such as this so as to build up damage without
enraging him too much. Use his Reply attacks to gather knowledge of just
how much he understands how he is attacking.

The first few attacks of yours are a good time to start throwing some of
your items around. Obviously, don’t bother using Your Opinion, as it will
trigger itself automatically, so why waste the time.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
5.2 Second Assault
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
After a while you will trigger his rage mode. This is where you'll start
seeing more Quote attacks then usual, and must also beware of I'm a little
tea pot short and stout, here is my handle and here is my spout as it may
occasionally be used on you if you have taken it too far. If this is the
case, ease off a little to let him calm down.

You will have moved on to some nitpicking by now. Poke holes in anything
you can find, including a bad spelling mistake if possible. Bring in your
Other's Opinions where applicable, but be aware that you loose these as
time goes on.

Don’t be afraid to use some PM's every now and then, preferably to calm
Croda down. Statements such as "You aren’t really getting where I'm coming
from" or "That’s not what I mean, just chill a moment" work ok. Do not
place any of your items into these, as that restricts their use elsewhere.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
5.3 Continuing
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sooner or latter you will begin to understand what’s going on around you
and you'll just be going with the swing of things. Your items are pretty
much useless by now, so try to have most of them used up by now (save a
few just in case). The only one that still matters is Your Opinion. You
will have lost all your Other's Opinions by now, but don’t worry.

Keep replying or quoting as the situation demands, but realise that now is
when you'll start seeing a lot of a BIG DONKEY in a clown suit attacks
which will pretty much rip through your health. Try to quote as much as
possible now to make your attacks seam as though they are actually
relevant. The <404 error: Word not found> attack will also show itself
here occasionally, so be sure to have quoted a few of your main points
beforehand, or even better, have had others quote them for you.

After a while you will achieve a result for all your hard work and
perseverance.

X--------------------------------------------------------------------X

XX----------------------------------------------------------------------XX
6.1 Victory
XX----------------------------------------------------------------------XX
Congratulations! Although Croda cannot be killed outright, it can admit
defeat (for however short a time before someone else comes in and backs
him up, then its an instant win for him, but by then you’ve already gotten
your rewards). In this situation you'll be back up and posting in no time.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
6.2 Repel
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nobody is perfect, but you're almost there. Croda won't admit you are
right, but he will stop debating the matter. This is as good as you will
get, and any further attempts to renew the quest will result in watched me
as I was changing when I was young and it has haunted me for the rest of
my life which is to be avoided at all costs.

Quick suggestion to THE guide, Kira.

Everyone knows what Goatse is. Put others, like Tubgirl, Creepypasta, or maybe different Goatse angles, to give a variety to the weapons you have against the likes of Croda.

Other then that, great guide! Can't wait to get the quest to hunt Croda. :'D

I didn't know what Goatse was until I googled it last night.

The One is right, this isn't my guide (I don't have the creativity to make one) I've just reposted it.

I know. :'P Just wanted to put up that little tidbit though (and it's a joke, so don't worry.)

Get another MH game to come out. Though, even that is something that may not increase sightings much.
